Bathtime fun

I completely stole this idea from a friend, and I'm not ashamed, it's a great idea.  At Wal-Mart I found some watercolor paint on clearance for 50 cents each, I picked up a couple packages, I let The Kid go to town painting herself and the bathtub walls during bath time a couple times this week, it was a huge hit!!

She even had fun painting herself (see green strip across her chest)

Her Rainbow :)

She was very intent on her artwork, couldn't get her to look at me or smile for anything!!

I just couldn't help myself....

Woke up to snow this morning, which put me in a holiday mood, so after work and while The Kid napped here's what took place at the King house:

Yes, I know Thanksgiving comes first, and we're very excited to celebrate with The King's extended family on Thursday, but in the meantime I still plan to get a few more things out :)   We're even going to get our Christmas card photos in the morning, *fingers crossed* The Kid cooperates!!

New Windows!!

The King enlisted the help of his dad and a friend to install two new windows in our living room (thankfully before it gets REALLY cold, we lucked out and it was mid-forties both days when they were installed so it didn't get too cold in the house. They still need to be framed up and the walls re-finished where they're both smaller than the original windows, but here's a preview:

(the gaps on the side have since been filled)

Thrifting

I finally got a chance to go to the thrift shops alone the other day, What a great day I had!  Here's my haul:

All this for just under $10!

Christmas stocking, $1, matches the set of 6 we already have, but "just in case" I grabbed another, we can use it for the pets, or if we have more family members than that?? Oh my.

And this beautiful hand-knit sweater & hat set for only $4, brand new!!!

2 full gallon size ziplock bags of little people animals (and 2 people) for a buck apiece.  We don't have the sets that go with them (yet) but I've had great luck picking up pieces at yard sales and other thrift shops, I found the barn for 75 cents (empty) once, and she can have all sorts of jungle animals in her barn, she'll love them!

Then there were 2 child size belts, and a pair of green/pink owl socks all 3 were $.50/each.

Infinity/Nursing Scarves!

I was looking on etsy for some infinity nursing scarves I'd seen on Pinterest the other day, and when I saw the price I was pretty bummed about the idea of not being able to get one due to the price, so I got back on Pinterest and found this cute and simple tutorial:

It's so easy even an Angel can do it!  All it takes is 1 yard of 60" wide jersey fabric, a few pins and a sewing machine!  You can get the full tutorial at the link above, no point in re-inventing the wheel...

I made 4 scarves in just a couple of hours, maybe even less, and that was taking my time and fixing a few mistakes as I went.  Not bad considering I haven't had my sewing machine going for almost 4 years!

Perfect cover for nursing when unfolded and wrapped around :)

Such a cute scarf too! This one is white with little blue stars :)

This is a thicker jersey which will be nice for the February Kid #2

This one is so long I could practically wear it as a dress or toga! I love the colors/stripes!

The 4 finished products :)

I have decided to get a bunch more fabric and make a few to sell, I'll post them here when I finish them! :)
